Georgia Mountain Storytelling Fest: Tales of Appalachia

Mountain history, lore, and life will be on full display during the Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival, April 13-14, 2018 in Blairsville, Georgia. Enjoy Mardi Gras Bavarian-Style In Helen, Georgia

There’s more than one way to celebrate Mardi Gras, and up here in the mountains, we do it Bavarian-style at an annual event called Fashing, held this year on Saturday, February 10, 2018. In Germany, Fashing season technically begins the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, giving everyone plenty of time to create masks and costumes for the big celebration on the night before Lent begins. For a place that sees upwards of three million visitors a year, the Helen Arts & Heritage Center exudes small town charm. The combination of area history and creative expression is summed up beautifully here.
