Take A Shot At These Georgia Mountain Golf Courses

You won’t find prettier settings to tee up your balls than right here in the northeast Georgia Mountains. Within an easy drive of Lucille’s Mountaintop Inn & Spa, there are five public or semi-public courses, each providing a healthy slice of natural beauty along with great play.

The par 72, 18-hole course in Helen, Georgia is a stunner with 200-foot drops and plenty of challenging shots. Be prepared to lose some balls! The Club has a Pro Shop and Bar & Grill.

Just 14 miles southeast of Lucille’s is the cute hamlet of Clarkesville, home of Apple Mountain Golf Club. Set in the North Georgia Foothills, the 18-hole course is a good play for all levels with wide-open fairways and nice Bermuda grass greens. The course does not have a restaurant, but you’ll find several top-notch ones downtown.

Rolling valley holes, undulating greens and water hazards on 13 of the holes is all part of the fun and beauty of playing at Butternut Creek Golf Course, a par-73 18-hole course in downtown Blairsville. Treat yourself to a round, then enjoy lunch and expansive views in the club’s Valley View Restaurant and Grill.

For nearly 50 years, Mossy Creek Golf Club in Cleveland, has been drawing golfers to its beautiful Georgia setting and enjoyable course. Previously known as Skitt Mountain Golf Course, this a shorter 18-holes (just over 5, 985 yards), but it has enough challenges to amuse skilled golfers without scaring away newbies. There’s a Bar & Grill located above the Pro Shop for a quick snack.

The Chestatee River winds through many of the holes at Achasta Golf, a semi-private Jack Nicklaus Signature course in Dahlonega, providing lots of beauty shots – and plenty of interesting ones! It’s a favorite PGA qualifying course and even experienced golfers will find it a challenge. Dining is available in several restaurants on the property.
