Lavender Stars At Georgia Mountain Boutique

A trip to France many years ago was the first inspiration for The Lavender Cottage, a lovely little shop here in Sautee Nacoocheee. What clinched it was a tour in 2001 through the Shenendoah Valley, where Judy and Glen Walker were again enchanted by lavender fields. After selling miscellaneous lavender items at local festivals, they opened their shop in 2011. The charming boutique offers a wide selection of all things lavender and beyond. The North Georgia Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition

Now through summer, you can tour four towns in the northeast Georgia Mountains and see impressive works of art, all part of the North Georgia Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. The annual juried art exhibit is presented by the Department of Visual Arts (DOVA) at the University of North Georgia, and draws on artists from the 13 Appalachian states. Each artist submits three works for judging. Selected sculptures are then installed in public outdoor locations on the school’s campuses in Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee for at least one year.
