Georgia’s Kaya Vineyard & Winery A Mountaintop Gem

Drive to the top of a 1600-foot ridge on Town Creek Road near Dahlonega, Georgia, and you’ll see a gorgeous panoramic vista. This is the home of Kaya Vineyard and Winery.

building-reviseThe property was once that of Blackstock Vineyards, which closed in 2012. After renovations and revitalization, it was reopened as Kaya Vineyard and Winery. The expansive rolling fields—notably the largest vineyard in Georgia—produce all the grapes that are used in the company’s wines.

To best experience Kaya Vineyard and Winery, you can take an hour-long tour that begins in the vineyard and ends in the barrel room. An additional 30 minutes is given for tasting wines at the end of the tour. The Tasting Room, which is stylishly done with reclaimed wood, has 12-foot windows that provide more wonderful views. Sip wine here or claim a chair on the large covered deck.

Kaya Vineyard and Winery offers a light Tasting Room menu to pair with the wines, and lunches Wednesday through Sunday. Wine dinners are held on the last Friday of every month, offering a tempting array of dishes, each paired with an appropriate wine.

This fall the winery will also be hosting the Spirit of Harvest event, September 24-25, 2016, featuring live music, artisan food vendors, wine tastings and more.
