North Georgia’s Mountain Fresh Creamery: Pure Delight

Scott Glover grew up along side his dad and grandfather, both dairy farmers, so its only natural that he’s now leading the way at the family-owned Mountain Fresh Creamery. And “only natural” is also a description of the company’s products.logo

Scott and his wife, Jennifer, started the farm in 2000, slowly building up their herd of dairy cows for their partner company, Glo-Crest Dairy. (The dairy supplies all the milk and butter for Mountain Fresh Creamery.) The cows lead a pretty cushy life, grazing in the lush pastures or in the hotter months, chilling by the big fans. They sleep on comfy beds, are treated to massages, and often get their backs scratched with special cow brushes! All this good living makes for good, wholesome milk, the basis for the company’s quality products.

You can meet the cows on a visit to the farm, which is located in Clermont, about a 30-minute drive south of the Inn. A tour will walk you through the milk process, with a visit to the creamery for a taste of milk and ice cream. Stop into the onsite Silo and you can order up a dish of homemade ice cream in one of 25 yummy flavors, such as two we Georgians love–fresh peach, and salted caramel with praline pecans.

We’re big supporters of locally-grown and produced products, and use many in our breakfasts. We’re extra fortunate this time of year—we just have to walk out the door to pick fresh veggies and herbs from our gardens. Come for a visit, and enjoy taste of the good life!
