Some bed and breakfasts are in old family mansions or country estates that have been converted into suites. Not ours. It was conceived and built specifically as an Inn, to be a place of beauty and relaxation where guests would feel both at home and extremely pampered. When the original owners, Lucille and George Hlavenka, conceived of a guest inn, they first needed to find the perfect location. After a searching a wide area of North Georgia, they found this small mountain top, just off the Unicoi Turnpike, overlooking the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains and scenic Sautee Valley. George was an architect and designed the Inn, purposely laying out rooms to take advantage of the sweeping views. He took great care in creating common areas that utilize sunlight (sunrise from the breakfast room, sunset from the living room) and guest spaces that provide conveniences and comforts found only in the best establishments.
The Inn’s design is highly influenced by the American Arts and Crafts Style—as much a philosophy as design—which conveys honesty, beauty and function rather than sizzle and size. As you walk throughout Lucille’s you’ll see elements of this style, such as the etched windowpanes, open main staircase, and angular stained glass fixtures. Exterior elements include the wide bracketed eaves and the square tapered columns of the driveway portico. All together, the effect is a welcoming retreat, both cozy and majestic.
This same thoughtfulness to design and comfort was used in creating the Spa at Lucille’s. Warm woods and subtle hues give it a relaxing atmosphere. Treatment rooms are modern and serene to enhance your experience.
