When you come back to our inn after a long hike at one of our top hiking paths, you might find that your feet need extra attention. Our on-site spa can help you! Choose from several different options for the exact care that you need to heal your body and rejuvenate your soul. And if you find your feet needing care outside of your North Georgia Mountain getaway, we’ve got some tips and tricks to help you between spa appointments.
- Consider purchasing quality arch supports. This will help improve the way your foot bears weight and can help stop the pain before it starts. You may even find that proper arch support can improve other joint stability issues, such as your knees or lower back.
- Our shoes wear out gradually, so it’s easy to not realize when it’s time for new ones. Even when the outside of our shoes still looks great, the inner, supportive elements can breakdown over time, causing pain in areas that are no longer receiving the support they need. Regularly evaluate your shoes and replace them when necessary.
- Soak your feet in a warm bath or basin to improve circulation and reduce inflammation. Many folks find that adding Epsom salt to warm water improves the effects of bathing the feet. You can also use bath crystals with oil and fragrance to soothe your skin.
- While sitting, use a tennis ball to massage tight foot muscles. Move the tennis ball from your toes to your heel and along the inside and outside edges. Squeeze the balls with your toes and then spread them out across the tennis ball to release tension.
- RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation) is the tried and true method of easing and resolving acute pain from home. Give your feet a break, apply ice to the painful area, wrap your foot if necessary, and elevate the area to reduce swelling.
