The North Georgia Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition

Now through summer, you can tour four towns in the northeast Georgia Mountains and see impressive works of art, all part of the North Georgia Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition.

img_1642The annual juried art exhibit is presented by the Department of Visual Arts (DOVA) at the University of North Georgia, and draws on artists from the 13 Appalachian states. Each artist submits three works for judging. Selected sculptures are then installed in public outdoor locations on the school’s campuses in Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee for at least one year.

The collection of works is as varied as the artists, offering a variety of mediums and messages. The exhibition is free and open to all, with self-guided walking tours available on each campus. If you’re part of a larger group, give the campus a call—you may be able to arrange a guided tour.
