We may be miles away from the olive groves of Portugal and Spain, but we can enjoy their bounty in delicious ways, thanks to Alpine Olive Tree. The inviting olive oil and vinegar store in Helen (there’s also a store in Dahlonega) is a terrific resource not just for cooking, but for gift-giving as well.
Like so many of us who travel, the owners discovered a wonderful olive oil and vinegar shop on vacation and returned home enthusiastic disciples. After much researching, learning and tasting (the fun part!), they opened their store. Walk inside and you’ll be instantly drawn into the enjoyment of tasting more varieties of olive oil and vinegar than you ever imagined.
Portuguese and Spanish extra virgin olive oils share the shelves with more exotic infused varieties—14 in all! Flavors of blood orange, wild rosemary, chipotle and basil are just a few of the oils ranging from slightly sweet to spicy or herby.
The balsamic vinegars, in dark, white and specialty varieties, are equally alluring and are available in flavors such as blackberry-ginger, grapefruit, and lavender. Little samples are available. If you’re uncertain how to pair them with foods, the store has some fabulous recipes on their website.
Both the oils and vinegars come in two sizes, as well as in gift sets. You can also put together your own gift box of up to six different varieties.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Lucille’s. It was everything I could have asked for in a honeymoon: the accommodations, the gorgeous mountain views, the food and spa, and most of all the friendliness of the owners and staff. Great job Megan and Chandler! I highly recommend (and already have to lots of friends) this incredible place for a wonderful get-away!
