North Georgia Cabin Rental or Bed and Breakfast? Your Choice May be Easy

Trying to decide on a cabin rental or bed and breakfast for a romantic getaway in the North Georgia Mountains? There are pros and cons to each and it’s simply a matter of personal choice. But here are a few things you may want to consider as you search for the perfect romantic mountain lodging.

Comfort and Style
Cabin rentals come in a range of styles, from bare-bones basics to luxury. Several reputable cabin rental companies in North Georgia offer large, luxury cabins that have 3, 4 or even more bedrooms.  Mountain Laurel Cabin Rentals of Blue Ridge, Georgia and Pinnacle Cabin Rentals of Helen, Georgia are just two examples of rental companies that offer large luxury cabins. Of course cabins with luxury furnishings are typically larger, meaning you either invite friends along on your romantic weekend, you pick up the costs of all those empty bedrooms, or you opt for a smaller, perhaps less-elegant cabin. Luxury inns like Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa offer finely appointed guest rooms and elegant common areas with designer touches throughout, and of course a variety of outdoor areas to take in the beauty of the mountains. And don’t forget you’ll need to pack your shampoo and soap for many cabin rentals, and some even require you to bring your own sheets!  But at a bed and breakfast you will find the finest in bed and bath linens, spa bath amenities, towel warmers, fresh cut flowers, flat screen TVs with satellite service and we even have an awesome DVD collection.

Breakfast
Cabins are great if you like spending part of your vacation time cooking and cleaning dishes. Some people like getting up early to cook when they are away from work and the kids.  You may even find a rental cabin with a well appointed kitchen, but of course some will have only a few basic kitchen essentials for “roughing it”.  And don’t forget to plan part of your vacation time for grocery shopping, unless you are willing to pay a hefty sum to have your rental cabin stocked with food.  However, if you would rather let someone else get up early to bake muffins and breads, whip up some creative egg and fruit dishes, then serve it to you on china, a bed and breakfast might be right for you. After all, breakfast is a big part of our business!  Here at Lucille’s we can even serve you breakfast in bed.  At a bed and breakfast you sit back and relax, while we prepare and serve you a gourmet breakfast made from scratch, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the mountains.

Activities
If pool tables and hot tubs are your thing, then a cabin rental might be right for you.  Some people like to spend their leisure time in a basement playing pool or sitting in a hot tub that many, many other renters have used.  You won’t find pool tables and hot tubs at most luxury bed and breakfasts, but you will find comfortable areas both indoors and out for lounging, quiet time for reading, hanging out with friends or, if you prefer, socializing with other guests.  We even have great fiber optic Wi-Fi throughout our inn for staying connected to friends and family back home or accessing your favorite Internet entertainment.  If outdoor activities like hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing, waterfalls and zip lining are your thing, then most North Georgia bed and breakfast and rental cabins are equally close to these attractions.  If you want to experience North Georgia Wine Country, Lucille’s is located right off the Unicoi Wine Trail and is just one mile from two of North Georgia’s finest winery tasting rooms.  And if a little spa pampering is your type of vacation activity, then just step next door to our day spa for a relaxing couples massage, purifying facial or hydrating body wrap.  Need we say more?

Views
Many rental cabins will sit on the side of a mountain and have a good view in one direction toward a mountain or valley.  Some higher up on a mountain may have an even wider mountain view.  Other rental cabins will be tucked deep in the woods down a dirt road to give you the ultimate up-close view of trees, so be sure to check the description closely or inquire with the cabin rental company about the view before renting.  Most well-run bed and breakfasts will have lots of photos of their views and grounds on their website, so you know exactly what to expect when you arrive.  At Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa, our name says it all: we sit on top of a small mountain providing 360 degree, long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and both the Sautee and Nacoochee Valleys.

Costs
If you are like most people, cost will play a big role in selecting lodging in the North Georgia Mountains. If you are considering a cabin rental, don’t forget to include the additional cleaning fee tacked on to most cabin rentals, which drives up the average daily cost of a rental.  And don’t forget the cost of breakfast, sodas, coffee and snacks, if you want to stay in a cabin.  These are included at most bed and breakfasts.  The full costs of a cabin rental compared to a mountain bed and breakfast stay can be very similar, but when you start adding those additional qualities that may be important to you like service, views, comfort, style and activities a bed and breakfast is usually a far better value.

Because your vacation is an investment, whether it be for a weekend or a week, we invite you to compare types of accommodations so that you are completely satisfied with your stay in the North Georgia Mountains.  We believe you will find the bed and breakfast experience at Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa to be a excellent choice for your romantic getaway any time of year.
